Business Training Manager Full-Time

MTW seeks a business oriented, highly motivated, and detail-oriented manager to lead a team of 5-6 youth employees to manage their own retail and online used bookstore and community space.  This position requires an individual with prior retail experience (bricks and mortar, as well as on-line retail), a commitment to working directly with youth and a track record of motivating and supervising a team to establish and meet high performance standards.  As with any retail enterprise, this position will require flexible scheduling and direct work with customers and suppliers. 

The Business Training Manager must be a high-energy person who enjoys teaching others, hitting goals, and working in a fast-paced environment during evening and/or weekend hours.  A successful candidate will have exceptional communication, and a sensitivity for MTW’s diverse constituencies.  Great customer-service, technological aptitude and a willingness to be accountable for the business are keys success! Education and Employment Manager

More Than Words (MTW) seeks an Education and Employment Manager with a strong background in promoting post-secondary and career access for high-risk youth. This position is responsible for designing and implementing services to support youth to make a successful transition to post-secondary education and/or employment. This position is responsible for working directly with youth participating in the core programs of MTW, as well as following up and serving youth during a 6-12 month period following successful completion of the MTW program.  During the follow up period, the Education and Employment Manager will work with graduates to map concrete and measureable education and employment plans, to support youth to achieve their goals, to track their progress and to maintain their engagement with the MTW community. 

In addition to working directly with youth, the Education and Employment Manager is responsible for representing MTW to the community and for building and enhancing strong partnerships and collaborations with corporations, educational institutions and other community partners to generate education and employment opportunities for MTW graduates.  As MTW is committed to using data to improve performance and results, the Education and Employment Manager is responsible for accurate and timely data tracking and for incorporating data inquiry as a critical learning tool to improve practice and programs

Small General bookstore located on Martha’s Vineyard, MA is seeking an experienced, responsible Manager.

   • Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: 

   • Hiring and training staff, staff scheduling, and supervision 

   • Placing all book orders, maintaining  adequate inventory, and working  with publisher's sales reps

   • Maintaining inventory control through POS system and manual inventories

   • Implementing opening and closing procedures

   • Promoting store events

   • Supervising and maintaining store website 

   • Supervise cleanliness of the store

   • Friendly customer service 

Qualifications and skill requirements: 

   • Must be an avid Reader

   • A minimum of 2 years bookstore management or retail store management

   • Excellent organizational skills 

   • Proficient with MS Office Word and Excel Knowledge of Anthology and/ or Basil system 

   • Must be able to work a flexible schedule including days, nights, weekends, and holidays

   • Outgoing  personality
