The mission of the New England Independent Booksellers Association (NEIBA) is to further the success of professional independent booksellers in New England and to foster a vital and supportive bookselling community. NEIBA was started forty years ago and now claims 350 members representing 225 stores in New England. It offers many services and programs to its members: peer reviews, an annual fall conference with more than fifty authors in attendance, a holiday catalog featuring dozens of new books from a wide range of publishers, “All About the Books” events that introduce authors to frontline booksellers and buyers, and the annual New England Book Awards. NEIBA has become an important force in the bookselling life of New England.
We are organizing Friends of New England Independent Booksellers as a way to enhance NEIBA revenue and strengthen its programming. NEIBA helps bookstores stay healthy so they can continue to support our many authors in ways that online booksellers cannot.
For $100 a year, you can support the independent bookstores of our region as they continue to promote authors, books, and reading. You can also help by circulating this flyer and letting your friends know about this new way to sustain independent bookselling.
Membership in the program runs a calendar year, from January 1 to December 31. For your support, Friends will receive a Thank You letter from NEIBA, as well as a Friends of New England Booksellers decal.
Please join us and support the vital work that we do for books and authors in New England. Make your check payable to NEIBA and mail to:
